ReutersInteractive debuts
by Tom Mandel
An interesting new spin on news and social networking has debuted from Reuters. Called ReutersInteractive, it is a social network organized around news. I think it’s a great idea, to tell the truth, as it can link people with a view to investigation, new media, activism, and more — all in close relationship with an established vendor like Reuters.
In other words, this is a terrific experiment by Reuters in figuring out what their value is in the new networked world and how to create a business model around that value. Kudos! I’ve just registered, and I recommend others do so too, to see how this new community works and grows.
Naturally, they are right away making some mistakes — you can only register with a “corporate” email address (viz. no gmail, msn, yahoo, etc. addresses). Dumb! But, hey, they’ll hear from us and I’m sure they’ll listen (hope so!).
Giving credit, I heard about ReutersInteractive from Jerry Bowles, who wrote about it on his Enterprise Web blog.
ReutersInteractive is built on Blogtronix, by the way — one of my favorite startups in the “Enterprise 2.0″ space.
